Familiar with Pakistan? Familiar with it’s music? Well if not, let this session be an interesting reference point for you. The Kominas are Basim Usmani, Imran Ali Malik & Shahjehan Khan and hail from the US via Pakistan. They are creating some phenomenal music right now and are founding members of the ‘Taqwacore’ movement which combines a punk ethos with sprinkilings of islamic culture. The Kominas are a by-product of the immigration generation! A sort of hybridised culture of western sensibilities and eastern philosophies told through the medium of punk!
